Rhythm Final

This was initially my model from a figure ground concept sketch, but after repeating the model and then finding this view in Sketch-Up with the wire-frame mode on, I have found that this is the best representation of rhythm that I have in my work. I have not added any entourage other than the fog and style in Sketch-Up because the model displays rhythm clearly by itself.

RHYTHM

Datum Final

Below is my final for datum, where the model is the main focus of the image but it is also drawn along a perspective line back towards the point that is at the centre of the black hole in the background, creating a main focal point in the image.

DATUM

Hierarchy Final

This below was initially a model from symmetry, but it better represents hierarchy with the different sizes of the same model, as they work with each other to create an aesthetic where nothing is fighting for the focus of the image and they all create a nice flow into the image towards the faded background. The small figure introduced gives a sense of the epic scale that these structures have.

HIERARCHY

Figure Ground Final

This model below is my final for figure ground although it was initially modeled for datum. I ended up creating a composition by repeating the model I created for datum that displays figure ground much more than datum, and I then played with the entourage to add another figure and also a background to heighten the sense of a figure and a background within  the composition.

Symmetry Final

This image below is my final image for symmetry. I created this repeated star model for the purpose of it being symmetrical  and after some repetition and the use of X-ray face style in sketchup I found this view of the model, which had some parts that looked like stylised wolf or bat heads,  so for the entourage here I have added a faint wolf head symbol.

SYMMETRY

Proportion/Composition Final

Below is my final image for Proportion/Composition. This final image has ended up representing elements of perspective and depth rather than a composed piece. I have added in the skeletons into the fading fog to enhance the eerie atmosphere that the fog produced by itself. This model was an experiment with repeating the object over and over to produce a 3-d grid that I could take the camera into to get some interesting views.

 PROPORTION/COMPOSITION

Contrast Final

Below is my final image for contrast. This has originated from my initial sketches for contrast, and the model has one of the patterns I created for contrast applied as a texture on it. I placed the Dragon head in the centre of the shape to create a stark contrast with the grayscale image it was placed in.

More Modeling and Alterations

Below are some printouts of my models that I have sketched on, and there are a couple that I have left and just rescanned after I printed them on my printer which was broken so the colours have been altered in interesting ways.

This idea above is from one of my symmetry models but I have not focused so much on representing symmetry but more just exploring the effects that can be achieved using the different features of Sketch-Up.

These are screens of different views of a model I created for figure ground from the sketch that I have placed on the model as a texture.

Rhythm Modelling

These are screens of my process of creating a model for the design principle Rhythm from one of my earlier drawings.

Below is another texture that I produced because the one I had on the model did not work well.

Below I have begun exploring the different looks that can be produced from changing the style of the model in sketchup

This last image shows exploration of the use of fog and shadows.
